It is used with hot water or cleaning chemicals, such as soap, to help eliminate any traces of pigment or other fluids from equipment and instruments. Many reusable materials need to be thoroughly cleaned before they can be sterilized in the autoclave. It is especially important that the ink is completely removed from the articles before they are introduced into the autoclave system, since this often leads to permanent staining of the elements. The variety of nylon and stainless steel bristles allows a thorough cleaning of any surface. The nylon bristles are much softer for delicate cleaning, while the steel bristles are for washing the harder surface.
